virtual neighbourhood archive, Amsterdam Oud-Zuid, 2003 [nederlands]
What makes this way extraordinary for you? Do you remember special occurances taking place here? Which personal object is meaningfull to you and what story does it carry?
Between october and december 2003 a group of students of art and architecture investigated the area behind the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid. In the neighbourhoodcentre and the pharmacie Lairesse speakinghours were held, questionaires were distributed to the households in which personal experiences, favourite routes and memories of the inhabitants were collected.
The presentation of the neighbourhood archive included curated walks through the neighbourhood as well as guided tours via mobile phones. Later on a newsletter was published, patched of the neighbours subjective information.
view cartography wandelingenIn Oud-Zuid, a Amsterdam neighborhood with a high density of expensive shops and old working class and new rich people, the Lairesse neighborhood archive recorded the personal and subjective attachment of people to their place.
De balletjes haalt hij voor mij uit zijn zelfgemaakte soep. Ik staar naar de draaiende rode massa in het schaaltje met bloemetjes erop. Het smaakt goed. Ik hou wel van vis, zeg ik om het goed te maken. Hij gaat door met zijn verhalen. Soms staat hij op om een person na te doen zoals de keer dat hij naast Willem Alexander stond te plassen.
