virtual communication
- BERND 5.9
i think the whole idea of communication in the global village is more about belief,
about the possibility than about necessity. i own a telephone from which the ring-tone
is out of order already for months, but i like it. on the same telephone there is a
voicemail that i never listen to, and i find that luxury. i even like the hills, when
they cover my phone-connection. today, we can still go away, and if we don't tell
anyone, it will maybe take a little time unless we'll be found. i wonder if this will
be much easier in a couple of years? (-this is a very romantic thought, and of course
i'm thinking of bas jan ader) it would be nice to have a map of those spots in europe,
where you still don't have radio or mobile-phone reception, today. this, in a way is
nowadays-wilderness. the invisible exclusiveness of public-space. but, whenever there
is a radar-technique, there will be a technique to stay invisible.
