multitude *************************************************************************************

- ROBERT
I recognise a significant historical shift, but cautiously I am asking how far the multitude has developed. There are very clear signs of new forms and patterns of social organisation but I can only recognise fragments. Few elements organise themselves along new lines, and I estimate that a more general development into the direction of the multitude will take a considerable amount of time. The concept of the multitude opens up completely new opportunities of playing the political game again, of taking a leading role in the discourse, for reclaiming cultural territory. The multitude makes us realize that we do not need one unifying strategy, one concept or idea, not one truth to constitute a social force. We realize to cooperate and work along each other but still together??/. But in the moment the multitude offers new space, it poses the danger of being appropriated by the powers of the metropolis.
